Faceboof tamara mahonen4/16/2023 ![]() The Smart Meter is a tool that every single energy services company needs *especially* for consumers that live in areas where it's typical to pre-pay for your energy. And it's probably easier for all of us consumers to understand why Energy companies want us to have smart meters as well, because they can immediately see what our *real* usage is on a daily basis.Īnd now I understand even more how massively important it is that there is an #opensource Smart Meter that is both reliable and affordable and can be produced at scale for even the smallest renewable energy services companies anywhere in the world, especially in off-grid locations. No matter where you're living right now, in 2022/2023 I can practically guarantee that you understand how important a smart meter is to helping you (as a consumer) understand your energy usage. I knew people that read their meter daily and reported the number to their energy company manually so they could get a better overview - but they often had to wait longer to really understand what they were spending. I made sure all our light bulbs were more energy efficient, I kept watch on the thermostat like a hawk, and it was the smart meter that kept me informed about how everything was going.įor residents in the NL without smart meters, there was more work involved. There were at least 3 months where I checked my energy use *at least* every day, to see how I could keep my costs down and what was working. Our energy bill tripled (ouch) then we got some money back, then the price settled down to higher-than-previous (about double) but with all sorts of government plans/energy cap prices etc in place that at least I can plan around. ever in my life.Įnergy prices were all over the place in the NL in the past year, and it had a major impact. This past winter I spent about 57925% more time appreciating that meter than I have. I live in Amsterdam, in a rented apartment with a Smart Meter. ![]() #sdg7 #openenergyaccess #funding #fundingopportunities There's not much to lose in applying - if we can help, we will. When budgets are smaller, we tend to move faster (this doesn't mean that you shouldn't try for the higher budget and longer term projects, just mentioning where the best chances are right now). Do you need funding less than $30,000 USD? Can you complete the project within a 6-month-ish timeframe? That will catch the eye of the pre-eval team. There are two things all these innovations have in common: they are all Open Source, all completely free to use, and they all have the potential to benefit a variety of companies in our sector. ![]() □♀️ Need an example? Check out the OpenPAYGO Token, the Open Smart Meter, or anything else that is listed here ->. What is sector-building? It means that your innovation/tool/plan is being made to help *your company* but it has massive potential to help other companies as well. ![]() They're there for a reason, and are updated on a regular basis ->. And please (please!!!) read the FAQs before you apply. ✅ When you apply for funding, pay extra attention to your answers for questions 5, 6, and 8. If you are committed to #opensource your work, I will tell you exactly what The EnAccess Foundation is looking for before you fill out this form -> This one is for #EnergyAccess companies that need funding. ![]()
